These pins are a creative love child of mine. If you know your queer history, the Hankie Code used to be a non-verbal language between men to indicate that they were part of the LGBTQ+ commniunity. Sure, a lot of this language was done to indicate sexual interest in certain acts or types of men.
In the recent generation of queer men, we don’t rely on these subtle forms of communication to be covert about our sexual orientation, however there are still many shames and stereotypes associated with actively sexual members of the community at large. I have designed these to be worn on leathers (like vests, ties, cuffs, etc.,), bags, hats, and more. I made sure that the shape reflects the fold of a hankie while it’s being used as a coded language, and chose the colors to reflect 7 of the most popular colors.
While I don’t currently have the means to produce these pins in any large capacity, if you are interested in seeing them realized and want to contribute to their existence, you are welcome to subscribe and donate. Subscribers will receive a first printing of each pin, and any first print of future colors. Any more colors or inclusions from the larger code (The Hanky Code ).
If you want a chance to see these made, or get yourself one for less than retail, I’m opening a Patreon page for my own personal creative journey. There, I’ll offer subscribers merchandise, gifts, stories, and a glimpse into the artistic process that I endeavor to perfect. The link is here.
